I love Graduate Fashion week. I think I like it (
whisper it) more than actual London Fashion Week. This is for several reasons. It's easier to get in to Graduate Fashion Week, you get to see several collections at once at the gala show that ends the week and it's more relaxed and informal.
Each year, the talent of the students showing at GFW never fails to amaze me. As someone who has recently started a dress making course (which I will blog about later), I know how difficult it is to start off making clothes, so to get to this level of craftsmanship takes real dedication and skill. I've photographed some of my favourites from the Gala show below. Apologies for the quality of the photographs - I've discovered that whilst my camera might be great for food blogs, it's not great for taking pictures of people moving stealthily down a catwalk, particularly when I'm not in the front row! I don't think the pre-show champagne helped either. But I hope this gives you a flavour of the wealth of creativity that's out there in this country, and a big round of applause to all the students who took part.

Beautifully dyed fabric, brilliantly cut to fit the body. Fluid, floaty and gorgeous. |

Rachel Cogley

Am gutted that these pictures didn't come out very well. Rachel showed this great coat and a fabulous 'dog' handbag, in which the dog's hair matched the models - brilliant. |

Marissa Owen

Loved this collection. Reminded me of Viktor and Rolf with a dash of Kenzo. This won the Womenswear Award at the show. Very well deserved. Further pics from her collection below: |
